Michael, Michael, Michael!
Its been a little while since I've written, mostly because I've been focused on completing school. I've also been offline more. But now, I have time to write!! I had so much fun today!!!
Firstly, I completed my Michael trunk and my beat it piano shirt a few days ago!! I mentioned those things previously, and now they're done. I was so happy to see both items finished after working on them for a while.
Younger eras
Mature eras
My beat it shirt ♥︎
Then today, I finally saw Michael!!! I watched "The Jacksons, an American Dream," and "Captain EO" 24 hours before. I strongly recommend watching both.
Before actually going to the theater, I had to do some things. I first went with my mother to open up my first bank account, which was pretty nerve-wracking... then, I spent an hour at a nearby park since I still had 2 hours before the movie started. After spending some time in the park, I got some lunch, then my mom dropped me off at the mall where the movie theater was. I went into Claires and looked around at all of the cute things they had.
My outfit + trunk. I love the little mirrors in Claires ^^
After Claires, I headed straight for the theater, got my ticket, and my snacks, then, I went into the assigned auditorium where the movie was showing, and there was like 2 other people there since I was a bit early. There was no way I was going to miss any second of this movie. After about 15 minutes, people started coming in, and ads/trailers ran for a bit. Most of the audience were elderly, and some of them even had the privilege of being present at a few of the Victory tour dates back in 1984! I was so jealous...
Some of the older folks asked if I could read their tickets for them a few times. I forgot that your eyesight strength decreases with age :P but I was happy to help them! Other than the older folks, there were of course fans like me who dressed up as him from thrad (thriller and bad) era, and some families. The energy and environment was very friendly and warm, and I loved hearing some of the audience talk about their memories of being fans way back in the 60s, 70s, etc.
After the ads and trailers, the movie began. I spent the next 2 hours in awe. I am still processing everything, but all I can say right now is that I LOVED IT!!! I give a 10/10 in terms of entertainment overall!! There many things that I liked, and some things I didn't like ofc, but the movie was really enjoyable in general!! The main things I didn't like include the quick pacing from era to era and from childhood to adulthood and timeskips, the overall sanitization of MJ's life and John Branca (this movie was worked on by the mj estate/Branca himself, and its a Hollywood production, not a documentary, so im not too surprised about that since not all things are gonna be accurate.) among other things. I feel like the movie tried to get through Michael's early years and career too quickly, missing many important parts, details, and people in his early career. I also do not like how the movie makes John Branca look like a saint who actually cared about Michael lmao.
One thing I admire about the movie is how it did not sugarcoat how abusive and strict Joe Jackson was, even though the scenes themselves broke my heart :( The movie straight up showed little Michael enduring the abuse from Joe a few times, which caught me off guard a bit. It's important that the movie didn't sugarcoat Joe's abuse, as it is a very crucial aspect of Michael's childhood and upbringing, and one major explanation as to why he felt that he never truly grew up inside, and why he wanted to relive his childhood later in life. Another thing I liked is how the movie showed Michael's affectionate relationship with his pets, especially Louie the llama, and Bubbles the Chimp. Bubbles was so stinkin' cute. He was animated so adorably and perfectly.
The audience didn't disappoint either. There was so much enthusiasm and energy in the auditorium! I loved everything about this experience, and its definitely the most exciting and joyful movie theater experience i've ever had. I only regret not staying until the very end after the credits, and taking more pictures! I was also pretty sad when I realized that the theater I went to didn't have any of the movie merch there, or even a movie poster or ANY sort of promo material (Cinemark, lock in pls...)
Some pics I snapped ^^
After the movie, my mom picked me up, and I headed home. I don't think I'm gonna get much sleep tonight, because of the amount of adrenaline I'm running off of at the moment xD. I'm also going on another Michael marathon. I can't stop thinking about the movie. I (and plenty of other fans) have waited 3 years for this, followed this film ever since it was announced, and after all of the promo, the anticipation, and waiting, the delays, and the leaks, it's actually here, and I got to see it. I can't believe it!
I've never been this passionate about a movie, ever. This movie is different. It's the closest thing the I and the younger generations will ever get to feeling and seeing the magic of Michael. It didn't even feel like a movie when I was watching it. I felt like I was in another world. I was really taking everything in, and I felt the energy of it all as well. Jaafar Jackson, Coleman Domingo, and the rest of the cast did so amazing in their roles!! I really would love to see the movie again in may!!! I'm pretty sure I'll cry next time too lol but I am definitely seeing it in IMAX and taking more pictures for memories!! I feel like I need to see the movie at least twice to conduct a proper review/rating for it, because then, I can focus more on details and such the second time I see it.
Michael and his music has been a part of my life for a long time, and him and his artistry really speaks to my soul. This movie did a pretty good job at portraying him for the most part! and I can't wait for the second movie in 2029-30! I'm not looking forward to when it reaches 2009 & the allegations (lies) though... I can't wait for it to come out digitally as well!
Seriously, if you have the money and time, go see Michael! Even if you aren't a fan! It summarizes Michael's early life just enough for locals (non-fans)/the general public to digest, and it'll allow you to understand his upbringing on a basic level, and some of personal struggles too. It's also extremely enjoyable and humorous in some scenes. Also fuck the critics, they're just bitter bc mj is being talked about and portrayed positively, and that goes against their agenda and smear campaign. This movie is awesome sauce go watch it.
Until next time!
(P.S. Ignore all the typos and mistakes I make sometimes!! I type super fast when I'm in a good mood or happy ^^ Also idk where I got the idea that the 2nd movie was coming out next year, but it's actually predicted to come out in 2029 and later lmao. Entry has been edited!)
